  • What have you done to build ownership and buy-in for projects that you have been involved in? Give me some examples.
  • Have you ever had to work hard to convince others in your own or a client organization to take a course of action you were recommending or to accept one of your ideas? What was the situation? How did you go about convincing the others involved? What factors did you emphasize or techniques did you use to convince them? What was their response? What happened in the end?
  • Sometimes the dynamics and personalities at the client organization have as much impact on the success of a project as the work we do. Tell me about a time when you had to deal with a difficult set of organization dynamics during a project. What was the situation? How did you become aware of the dynamics? What did you do? What was the result?
  • What is your most significant “networking relationship”? How did you establish it? What have you achieved through it?
  • Tell me about a time when it was important to the success of a project or engagement that you win someone’s trust. Who was the individual, and how did you go about it?
  • Everyone has differences of opinion with a colleague or customer/client at some time. Can you think of a situation where this has happened (What brought it on? what happened? what was the outcome?)
  • I'm sure you've experienced conflict within a group project at some time, tell me about it. (What was the source of conflict? What did you do to resolve it?)/ Or, if no conflict – ask.
  • Why they think the project worked as well as it did. (what did they do to help ensure its success?)
  • What quality do you hate most in people? Why? What do you do when you are confronted with it?
  • Who considers you a good coach or mentor and why? When did you work with them? What was the greatest challenge?
  • Give an example of a situation where you were able to significantly improve another person’s performance. What did you do? What was the outcome?
  • What has been your role in delegating and assisting others in learning to work successfully outside their comfort zone? Give an example, what was the result for the people?
  • Describe a situation where your expectations had a significant impact on another person’s performance. What did you do, what was the result?
  • Have you ever had a formal coaching role? Tell me about the last coach you had and their development related to your guidance? What would you have done differently?
  • Tell me about the last time you developed new _______________? What is the _________ (ex. Software, solutions, strategy) you are most proud of developing? How did you communicate the development? What was the outcome?
  • How have you maintained your knowledge base? Tell me about a time when you did not have experience in a project you were asked to perform. How did you find the information? What role did you play in the team?
